I was the Creative Manager and Lead Graphic Designer for Western Colorado University.

Located in the heart of the Rocky Mountains Western is a public university in Gunnison, Colorado that enrolls 2,900 students through more than 100 diverse programs within a liberal arts curriculum.

1.0 UNIVERSITY BRANDING


I was responsible for directing the name change from Western State Colorado University to Western Colorado University.

In simplifying the name of the institution, I was tasked with updating the logo and the Marketing Department institutional brand guide to reflect these changes.

2.0 ADMISSIONS MATERIALS


I redesigned and directed all print materials for the admissions recruitment cycle. These pieces are printed in quantities of 2,000-30,000 and are used over an academic year for recruitment purposes.

I received positive feedback from the admissions department and developed efficiencies in our in-house process. This work supported an 11-12% increase in students enrolled for the 2018-19 academic year and the largest freshman class in a decade.

Over the course of the academic school year students who received letters of acceptance interacted with the “I’m a Mountaineer” campaign on social media platforms.


This campaign gave prospective students the opportunity to show their friends and family where they chose to attend college in the Fall.

I partnered with the Information Technology Department and Marketing Department to complete a redesign of the University website. This redesign involved major updates to the home page, and landing pages for Admissions, Current Students, Academics, Parents and Family, Athletics, and Alumni.

The school received positive feedback on the change and the department was able to address some major issues with user accessibility and OCR (optical character recognition) compliance. Ultimately, reaching an accessibility score of 87.7%.

4.0 BUS WRAP DESIGN

I collaborated with the Rural Transportation Authority (RTA) on developing University branding and recognition through a bus wrap design.

After the bus design hit the road it received wide praise locally, on campus, and in the community. These buses are free for public use, serving the daily commuter, student skier, and weekend adventurer.

5.0 CAMPUS BRAND ALIGNMENT


I initiated the need for an in-house template-based design and publishing platform to empower campus clients to design branded University print and digital materials themselves.

I was tasked with launching Lucidpress to our top 10+ campus clients. I planned and executed two training sessions and developed templates and workflow systems for our users to develop stronger brand alignment and empowerment across the University.
